The Frankston Music Society Inc.
The Frankston Music Society (FMS) is home to the Frankston Symphony Orchestra and the Mornington Peninsula Chorale and has been proudly presenting concerts in Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula and in 2017 we celebrated our 50th anniversary.
Rich in musical history the Frankston Music Society was founded in 1967 by the world-renowned pianist Vera Bradford and fellow residents from the area. The orchestra was formed first in 1968, with the chorale to follow in 1979.
In 2017 FMS Celebrated itβs 50th Anniversary Year.
The Frankston Music Society Inc. is a not for profit organisation and relies on membership fees and donations for our continued survival.
Frankston Symphony Orchestra
The Frankston Symphony Orchestra (FSO) is one of ten community orchestras in Victoria, Australia.
The orchestra forms a part of the Frankston Music Society, which also includes the Mornington Peninsula Chorale.
The orchestra performs regularly at the Frankston Arts Centre and has also toured regional Victoria.
Apart from traditional concerts, the orchestra also performs concerts of children’s music, film and television scores and contemporary pieces.

Mornington Peninsula Chorale
The Mornington Peninsula Chorale is a Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass Community Choir (SATB Choir). The choir forms a part of the Frankston Music Society, which also includes the Frankston Symphony Orchestra.
The choir perform an annual Oratorio concert with the FSO as well as singing at the FSO Proms concert and presenting a festive Christmas concert.
The choir was formed in 1979 and has over 90 active members. It involves many members who also perform in other local and city based choirs.

As a community orchestra we have been actively involved with our local community, supporting local events and providing opportunities for musicians and composers to further their careers within the music industry.

In May 1967, Frankston Music Society called for musicians to help start the Frankston Symphony Orchestra.
Since then the Orchestra has had many notable conductors.

The Frankston Music Society designs and publishes a concert flyer for each concert we perform. These are important for media and marketing purposes for the concert but also as a memorable keep sake for our concert attendees.
